Oh God, this brings back memories of rushing home to see American Basndstand. I remember all the popular couples they always kept on camera and how my friends and I all wanted to be them.. koi. Such a great show through my teen years. The games to name the songs & put them in order and the guests. Thanks for the memory this morning.

I was still in elementary school when I used to watch American Bandstand on Saturday afternoon. I thought the kids dancing were so 'cool!' I enjoyed it when Dick Clark would make conversation with the teenagers in the audience. He always asked the teens how they would rate that song on a scale from 1 to 10, and tell him why.
I never knew that Barry Manilow sang the theme song. He must have been in his teens back then.
Hi Mary! Yes, Barry Manilow wrote jingles and commercials when he was young. I've seen him in concert (more than once!) and he always does the Bandstand theme song.

I've never seen American Bandstand, but I do remember my mother talking about it and she loved it! I like reading about things that happened before my time, it kinda makes me nostalgic for a time that I wasn't a part of lol.
I get that way too about things before my time ... I love reading about the 1950's music, fashion, etc. -- all very interesting.
