Daily Vintage - Baseball Boy Birthday Card

Welcome to my brand new blog feature!  I'm looking forward to sharing a vintage item with you every day.  Many of these will be from my shop, Birdhouse Books, but some may be from my own home, friends' collections, etc.   I am happy to be surrounded by friends and family who love all things vintage!

My first Daily Vintage offering is this cute vintage birthday card.  It features a little boy in a Cubs baseball uniform celebrating his 10th birthday.  A little girl in a beanie cap is eating popcorn and cheering him on, and her terrier dog joins in the fun.  Super cute!

Synopsis

Where is Kent Heyward? The twenty-three-year-old heiress from one of Charleston’s oldest families vanished a month ago. When her father hires private investigator Liz Talbot, Liz suspects the most difficult part of her job will be convincing the patriarch his daughter tired of his overbearing nature and left town. That’s what the Charleston Police Department believes.

But behind the garden walls South of Broad, family secrets pop up like weeds in the azaleas. The neighbors recollect violent arguments between Kent and her parents. Eccentric twin uncles and a gaggle of cousins covet the family fortune. And the lingering spirit of a Civil-War-era debutante may know something if Colleen, Liz’s dead best friend, can get her to talk.

Liz juggles her case, the partner she’s in love with, and the family she adores. But the closer she gets to what has become of Kent, the closer Liz dances to her own grave.

My Review
I love cozy mysteries with a Southern setting!  Lowcountry Boneyard has a delightful South Carolina setting.

Liz Talbot is a strong protagonist who solves mysteries with the help of her dead best friend, so there is a paranormal element to the book.   There is also a romantic storyline with Liz's long distance boyfriend, Nate.

The book is well written, with interesting plot twists, and it moves quickly.

This is the third book in the Liz Talbot series.  I have not read the other books (yet!), but this was still a great read.  I think that other fans of cozy mysteries and Southern mystery readers will enjoy it as well.
