I've been listing vintage Valentines in my store and absolutely love this 1930's - 1940's Boston Terrier Valentine. It's mechanical; if you lift the dog's paw, a message for recipient appears. So sweet!
A southern girl chatting about books, ephemera, life, love, dogs and all things vintage!

The Golden Magazine for Boys and Girls, 1960s Vintage
Growing up, I remember that my favorite magazine was Jack and Jill, which we subscribed to. I don't think I've ever seen The Golden Magazine for Boys and Girls before last week, when I found a box of these magazines in beautiful condition at an estate sale. This magazine was published by The Golden Press, the publisher of Little Golden Books, and the illustrations and stories have a lot of cross-over. They are so much fun to look through! I wanted to share a few of these 1960's vintage magazine pages with you. If you'd like to see the rest you will find them in my store - just click this link to visit Birdhouse Books. This is a Halloween cover from 1967 - gorgeous art work!
Lots of great stories and art work, like this Halloween story illustrated by George and Irma Wilde:
A glimpse at childhood in the 1960's, like these Beatles and Monkees coathangers. I want a Peter Tork clothes hanger!
Betty Crocker recipes for children -- great Mid Century illustrations:
Paper Dolls! These are so cute!
My favorite - activity page cutouts like these gorgeous Valentines!

Vintage Sunday School Postcards
These vintage Sunday School postcards have fabulous baby boomer vintage illustrations. They really capture a time and place so well. They have a linen finish, but from the style of illustrations, I would date them as 1950's to early 1960's. I'm adding Sunday School postcards at my store: Sunday School postcards at Birdhouse Books

With a Vintage Song in My Heart ...
I grew up loving music from my parents' and grandparents' generations -- Great American Songbook, big band, Broadway, swing. I have always enjoyed vintage sheet music and old fashioned songbooks because they combine these old fashioned songs with great retro cover illustrations. I've sold vintage music for years in my store, but am clearing out this category as I focus more on vintage books and ephemera. I'm having a HUGE box lot sale that I'd love to share with you -- Vintage Sheet Music Lot HUGE 60+ Pieces 1910s to 1970s and Vintage Song Book Lot 16 Books BIG BAND Broadway POP.
