I HEART Anthropomorphic Valentines

"Anthropomorphic" is a magic word on eBay. It means giving human qualities to an inanimate object - i.e. a smiling peach Valentine or a crying salt and pepper set. Anthropomorphic decorative items were popular in the 1950's to early 1960's. They are great sellers! Here are a few of my anthropomorphic items on eBay:

Devil Valentine by Carrington, 1920's to 1930's Vintage

If you read this blog often, you know how much I love vintage ephemera - especially Valentines and Christmas cards. This is a real charmer, and it's very unusual ... I just had to share it with you.

It's a little Devil and a little girl in a masquerade costume. I would date it as 1920's to 1930's vintage, and it's by Carrington. It is a real charmer!

Betty Crocker Pie Cover Cookbook

Just a head's up -- this cookbook is very collectible, and always a good find for eBay (or for your personal collection).

It is known as the Betty Crocker Pie Cover Cookbook because of the pie chart diagram on the cover. This book is 1972, and was made with a Sears tie-in (even more collectible).

This book (eBay Item number: 360117936888) is currently at $49.99 with bidding still open. I'll let you know how it does!

Update 12/30/08 -- book sold for $59!
