Dachshund Treasures!

Our very dear Dachshund friend Sabrina Su (Beanie Su) sent us some beautiful Dachshund items to list. It has been so much fun to photograph and list these lovely collectibles.

Here is a Christmas Dachshund stuffed animal toy with a little pouch for inserting a small gift (like jewelry) or treat:

This adorable little Dachshund toy walks, barks, and turns his head alertly.  So cute!

This glossy black figurine has pretty red trim and beautiful vintage lines.  I would date this little guy as 1950's:

This precious pair are made of molded plastic.  They are vintage 1950's to 1960's, and each little molded plastic toy dachshund wears a little hat.  They are so cute and miniature in scale!

Here are 2 photos of the most unusual Dachshund salt and pepper set.  It is in two pieces -- front of Dachshund and back of Dachshund.   So cute!  Look at the lovely detail on the Doxie's face in the second photo:

This vintage glass Dachshund is Mid Century vintage (1950's to 1960's) and has beautiful retro lines.  His face and tail are gold and his body is clear glass.

This white ceramic or pottery Dachshund is a planter, but would also serve well as a dresser valet or desk caddy.  He is very well made (heavy) and absolutely lovely.  He is vintage, probably 1950's.

This pewter brooch is a show stopper!  It is signed by Rune Tennesmed, Abstract Modernist jewelry designer from Sweden.  It is Mid Century Modern vintage and absolutely beautiful ... also very hard to find.

Perhaps my personal favorite, I love the sweet expression and glass eyes on this vintage Christmas Dachshund figurine.  There is a red bow, bell, and holly around his neck.

And here is the sweetest Dachshund you'll find here ... our great friend Sabrina Su, also known as Beanie Su!

Elephant Bride Mechanical Valentine, 1920s to 1930s

Most of you know that vintage Valentines are some of my favorite things.  Other than my personal favorites - dog Valentines - I will admit that mechanical Valentines hold a special place in my heart.  These are fun little Valentines with moving parts.  They were very popular with children in the 1920's and 1930's.   I have a number of them in my store -- mechanical Valentines at Birdhouse Books -- and I listed a special one yesterday.   This Valentine depicts a blushing elephant bride.  As she shyly lifts her bouquet to her face, you will see that there is a little Valentine card underneath.  Very sweet -- and very unusual!

Mrs. Georgia Recipe Book 1965

I love finding unusual cookbooks that give a glimpse at another time, and the way people lived then.   This cookbook does all these things.  It is the Mrs. Georgia Recipe Book from 1965 - click here to see the Mrs. Georgia cookbook.  This book was originally a giveaway from the Atlanta Gas Company.  Note the photo of the woman posing happily by her new stove!  It features photos of contestants in the Mrs. Georgia pageant, along with litle bios and their favorite recipes.
