Dear Abby - Vintage Easter Dogs

Dear Friends,

Just a short and sweet note from me today, wishing you a Happy Easter!   I found a few images of vintage Easter dogs that I thought you might enjoy.

This 1939 illustration by Mabel Rollins Harris features a Cocker Spaniel in an Easter bonnet along with a little girl - and chicks!

Dear Abby - Vintage Easter Dachshunds

Dear friends,

I'm taking a break from my rescue series this week to wish you a happy Easter.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I've looked high and low and found some vintage Easter postcards featuring dachshunds.  For some reason these are hard to find - who knew?!

This is my favorite.  A little girl hugs a dachshund, while another doxie brings flowers.  Little chicks are hopping around, too.

A dachshund meets three bunny rabbits!

This card features a whole family of bunny rabbits ... and a handsome black dachshund.

It looks like some dachshunds are helping a bunny rabbit with some Easter eggs.  (I like this idea!)

Two dachshunds meet a big rooster!  This is an unusual card.  Are they in a library?

Another dachshund meets a rooster on this vintage Easter postcard.

A dachshund howls with happiness because he discovered a nest of eggs.

Another surprised looking dachshund finds a chicken and baby chicks.

This pretty dachshund carries pink flowers.

I hope you enjoyed these vintage Easter dachshunds.  I also hope your Easter weekend is lovely.

I'll be back next week with a happy pet rescue story for you.

Love to all,

Abby xoxoxo

Daily Vintage - Easter Postcard with Chickens

This lovely, frameable vintage Easter postcard depicts chickens eating feed.  I always love the illustrations on these early 1900's cards.  You will find several vintage chicken postcards for Easter at Birdhouse Books.

Daily Vintage - Easter Postcard, Baby Chick in a Bird Nest

Today's Daily Vintage is a lovely vintage Easter postcard.  It features a baby chick in a bird's nest.  The card is trimmed with glitter, which is now dark (a sign of older glitter - early 1900's).  This is one of those cards that just looks like Spring to me.

Found at Birdhouse Books:  vintage Easter postcard, chick in nest.

A Vintage Easter Surprise: Fleck's Certified Easter Egg Colors, 1930's

What a fun surprise!  I had to share with you.   My best friend, who knows how much I love whimsical holiday ephemera, just brought me this packet of Fleck's Certified Easter Egg Colors.  From the design, I would date this as 1930's vintage.  The package is opened and does not contain colors.  What it does contain is lots of gorgeous transfers and paper designed to decorate Easter eggs.  I have a small vintage Easter collection, and I will treasure this.  I absolutely love the designs.  I scanned the front and back of the packet and just a few of the transfers inside to share with you.  I found it interesting that there were some comic strip and pop culture characters included, like Pluto (Disney) and Dagwood Bumstead.  Thought you might enjoy these pics as well!

Happy Easter!

Wishing you and yours a beautiful day!

We are expecting lots of rain here today, and it will be so welcome - to wash away all the Spring pollen!

My Friday to-do is short and sweet:

* eBay packing - several small items sold, including this cute Pete Hawley illustrated Valentine, above

Hope you have a wonderful Friday!

Friday Projects

Hi, eBay friends!

Sorry to be out of touch the past month.  I've missed chatting with you here!   I'm going to try to start posting little updates here, even if it's short and sweet, or a note about a day in the life of an eBay seller.

Today I'm working on eBay listings.  I have a big lot of new gift store / boutique Easter cards, a vintage Donkey Party board game, and a stack of vintage craft booklets.

I purchased these Easter cards a couple of years ago at a yard sale.  I thought they would be good to sell individually, like my vintage cards.  That turned out not to work for me.  This is a huge lot (50 or 60 cards?? -- I need to count) and they are too cute not to pass along to someone who will enjoy them.   So ... I'm boxing them up and listing them as a big lot.

Hope your day is great!
