Dear Abby - Vintage Easter Postcards With Dachshunds

Dear Friends!

Easter is coming up this weekend, so I've been looking for vintage Easter postcards to share with you. I found some that I hope you will enjoy!

A little girl in an Easter dress hugs her dachshund, while another doxie looks on:

A dachshund and Jack Russell Terrier chase the Easter bunny to the top of a giant egg.

A dachshund is pictured with snapdragons and little chicks.

Dachshunds play with flowers and an empty oversized Easter egg.

Dachshunds visit the Easter bunny's booth to collect Easter eggs.

A chicken and dachshund find a nest of eggs!

A dachshund plays with the ribbon trim on an Easter egg while looking at a little chick.

A dachshund meets several bunny rabbits!

A little girl holds a giant Easter egg while her dachshund plays with the egg's ribbon trim.

I hope you enjoyed these sweet vintage postcards.  Wishing you and yours a happy and blessed Easter!

Dear Abby - Vintage Pictures of Dachshunds in Winter

Dear Friends,

I hope you are having a good week and staying warm. It was very cold for us in the south earlier this week, although we have not seen snow this winter. I am glad about that, as I am not a fan of snow!

I found some vintage pictures of dachshunds in winter that I like and thought you might enjoy them too.

This is a vintage postcard with a dachshund sitting beside a little girl outside in the snow. The little girl is wearing a coat but the doxie looks chilly!

Another vintage postcard -- children are going ice skating and their dachshund is right there with them on a frozen pond!  (Brrr!)

Vintage postcard of a dachshund pulling a sled through the snow with a puppy and two cats.  (This picture must be wrong, because the dachshund surely deserves to be pulled in a sled as well!)

Vintage postcard of dachshunds skiing on a mountain. It looks like they are having fun!  One of them is standing on skis on all four legs instead of standing upright. I think he has the right idea.

1960's or 1970's vintage children's book illustration of a dachshund helping to make a snowman.

Another vintage children's book illustration of a dachshund meeting some deer in the snow.

I hope you enjoyed these pictures!  Have a good day and a nice cozy weekend indoors, and I'll catch up again next week.

Love,

Dear Abby - Happy Thanksgiving

Dear friends,

I hear that next week is Thanksgiving!  That means yummy food and the National Dog Show.  It also is a nice reminder to be thankful for good things in our lives.

Readers, I am thankful for YOU.  I have loved the wonderful stories and photos you have shared of your fur-kids in Rescue Spotlights and Pet Meet and Greet posts here.  I enjoy every single comment that you leave, especially the ones about your pets.

Thank you for visiting my blog and for loving animals and for supporting rescue!

Today I will just share a few vintage Thanksgiving images with you.  Above, you will see a girl eating turkey while her dachshund watches.  (He has a bone to chew on.)  It is a cover illustration of Calling All Girls magazine from the early 1960's.

Below you will find a vintage postcard showing two black and tan dachshunds meeting some turkeys.  I wonder how that went?!

This vintage Thanksgiving greeting card features two little puppies playing on a great big pumpkin.  That looks like fun!

This is another vintage greeting card (1940's).  It shows a little terrier dog actually riding on a turkey!

Thank you again for stopping by!  What are you thankful for this year?  If you have pets, do they get special treats on Thanksgiving?  I'd love to hear from you in the comments, below.

Love,

Dear Abby - Vintage Halloween Dogs

Dear Friends,

Happy ALMOST Halloween!  Are you ready for Halloween?   I am looking forward to a quiet holiday, with extra treats and happy music when the trick or treaters come by.  I like children, but don't like loud noises at the door, so I stay in the bedroom all safe and comfy on Halloween night.

When I'm not playing, walking, snuggling, and blogging, I like to collect dog theme vintage cards, photos, postcards, and images.  I would love to share some vintage Halloween dogs with you today.

This Calling All Girls magazine features a girl dressed as a witch -- and her dachshund rides on the broom!

Betsy McCall paper dolls like this came in McCall's magazines back in the 1960's.  These Betsy McCall pictures feature Betsy's dachshund, Nosy, playing on Halloween.

This children's book, Fall is Here, has an illustration of two children carving a jack o'lantern with the help of their cocker spaniel.

A cute Scottish Terrier is pictured on this 1940's vintage greeting card.

A beagle finds his person - even in a costume! - on this Wee Wisdom magazine cover.

In this vintage photo, a Boston Terrier dog is dressed up as a sailor for Halloween.   I think the shadow in the foreground looks spooky!

A boy wears a Halloween advertising pattern costume, and his dog is dressed up too in this vintage photo.

Extra spooky!  A child is ready to trick or treat as their dog watches in this vintage photo.

This cute vintage photo features a little clown and his dog.

A little girl is dressed up for Halloween, and waiting with her dog in this antique photo.

Aww!  I love this vintage photo.  I hope this sweet looking dog gets lots of treats.

In this vintage photo a cat and dog go trick or treating together.

This vintage postcard features a boy and girl with their cat and dog.

A sweet little terrier dog helps his boy line up Jack O' Lanterns on this vintage postcard.

This vintage postcard has a black cat peeking out of a jack o' lantern and greeting a dog.

An owl and dog play near a big jack o' lantern on this Halloween postcard.

Two dogs are surprised when a cat peeks out of a jack o' lantern on this vintage postcard.

I hope these fun vintage postcards put you in a Halloween mood.  If you have cats or dogs, do they enjoy greeting trick or treaters?  Do your pets like to dress up for Halloween?  I'd love to hear from you in the comments, below!

Have a great weekend and Happy Halloween!

Love,
