Yard Sale Treasures

Hi vintage friends!

I had a wonderful day of treasure hunting at yard sales, garage sales, and estate sales today.   Wanted to share a few pics!

Old Texaco travel pack:

Recipe cards, unused, in the original boxes:

Truman Capote, A Christmas Memory -- First Edition in slipcase:

Vintage Thingmaker molds - these are fun!

MANY children's books - both vintage and new.  These stacks are just some of what I found.

A boxed set of Ray Charles CDs -- this is my present to myself.  :-)

Everything except the Ray Charles will end up at Birdhouse Books in the next few weeks.   I am excited!

You never know what there will be at the different sales.  My best friend and I go together.  We have been doing this for many years, and help each other look for goodies.  We have done this for so long that we have it down to a science.  We can usually scope out a sale from the car to see whether they have the type of things we are looking for.

Did you go yard saling or thrifting this weekend?  When you do yard sale, what do you enjoy looking for?  I'd love to hear from you in the comments, below.

I love treasure hunting... It's so much fun and most of the time find very rare old stuff. I love looking pretty cups and vintage stuff. Going with your friend must be even fun. :)

I love looking at your treasures, but I am not very good at scoping out the best sales. I rarely seem to find anything that compares to what you discover. I often find over-priced items, and other people's garbage. And loads and loads of clothes (which I do not want or need). Perhaps I need to ask you for some tips. It likely has something to do with neighbourhoods and types of yard sales I end up at.

I'm more of a resale clothing shopper. I love finding a "still with tags" designer dress!

These are some really cool finds. I love shopping at antique stores but have never really shopped at yard sales. I'm inspired to give it a try though. And those vintage creepy crawler makers are so awesome. My brothers and I had one growing up and we loved it! Brings back so many happy memories!

Looks like you had a great day and found some treasures! I enjoy checking out antique stores, flea markets, and the occasional yard sale. I usually search for the old cake savers, unique cake plates, cast iron, old cameras and photographs, and anything I can repurpose.

Thanks, all! It was great to hear from you. I enjoyed hearing about your collections and finds.

Jamie, I also like old photographs of dogs -- always looking for them at sales!

Yard sales are a great place to find classroom books. I'm a former preschool teacher and found some terrific classroom books at sales.

Thanks for stopping by!
